5 days Marrakech and Sahara desert tour – Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech

Your Moroccan adventure begins with a warm welcome at Marrakech Menara Airport. Our local guide will accompany you to your riad, where you can check in and settle in. The rest of the day is yours to soak up the lively atmosphere of Marrakech. Head to the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa Square, the bustling heart of the city, and perhaps enjoy dinner at one of its restaurants before returning to your riad for a peaceful night.

Day 2: Marrakech → High Atlas Mountains → Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah → Ouarzazate → Dades Valley

Your desert journey begins with a pick-up from your riad. Leaving the city behind, we head southeast across the High Atlas Mountains, passing charming Berber villages and stopping at the best viewpoints for photos. At Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO-listed site famous for its ancient kasbah, you’ll have lunch and explore this historic fortified village, which has appeared in films such as Prince of Persia and Gladiator and the hit series Game of Thrones. We then make a short stop in Ouarzazate, home to Africa’s largest film studio, which you can visit if you wish. From there, we continue to the Dades Gorge through the lovely Valley of Roses. In the Dades Valley, you’ll see the remarkable rock formations known as “monkey fingers” and enjoy a panoramic view of the gorge and valley before heading to your hotel for the night.

Day 3: Dades Valley → Todra Canyon → Merzouga Desert

After breakfast, we drive through beautiful scenery along the Dades and Todra Rivers, lined with green palm groves and traditional Berber villages. Our first stop is the Todra Gorge near Tinghir, renowned worldwide for its dramatic beauty. On the way to Merzouga, your driver/guide may suggest a stop at a traditional Berber shop, where you can try on Berber outfits and take photos at no cost. You’re welcome to browse desert scarves and souvenirs, but there’s no pressure to buy; the visit is mainly a way to share Berber culture. If you’d rather not stop, just let your guide know and we’ll continue. On arrival in Merzouga, you’ll set off on a camel ride into the dunes, watch the sun set over the sand and try sandboarding. In the evening, settle into your luxury desert camp for a delicious dinner and the timeless magic of the Sahara under a sky full of stars.

Day 4: Merzouga Desert → Agdez → High Atlas Mountains → Marrakech

After breakfast at the camp, we begin the journey back to Marrakech. This time the route follows the Draa Valley, the longest valley in Morocco, with a stop in Agdez to enjoy a sweeping view over its endless palm groves. We break for lunch in Ouarzazate, then cross the High Atlas Mountains once more on the way back to Marrakech, where we drop you off at your riad.

Day 5: Explore Marrakech

Your final day starts with breakfast at your riad. Our friendly local guide will then take you to the highlights of Marrakech, sharing stories about famous landmarks such as Jemaa el-Fnaa Square, Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, Ben Youssef Madrasa and the Koutoubia Mosque. After lunch, discover the modern side of the city with a visit to the beautiful Majorelle Garden, a peaceful green escape in the heart of Marrakech. If you’re flying out today, we’ll arrange a smooth transfer to the airport, bringing your 5 days Marrakech and Sahara desert tour to an end.
